Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray’s 2022 campaign may have ended in the worst way imaginable on Monday Night Football against New England.

While it’s no secret Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals struggled in nearly every facet this season, we went into Week 14 hoping the much-maligned quarterback could turn things around. The playoffs were basically out of the question, but we have seen Murray work his magic before, and the hope was to at least give us some optimism for 2023.

Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. When attempting to scramble for a first down, Murray appeared to stumble before collapsing to the turf at State Farm Stadium. Anyone who had been around the game long enough had an inkling of what could potentially have happened.

Following the TV timeout, and we saw the injury cart on the field, with both teammates and opponents surrounding it. Murray, face contorted in pain, sat in the back, knowing his 2022 season was likely over.

Arizona Cardinals quarterback could miss months

ACL tears are bad enough, but when they occur in December, there is a strong likelihood that the recovery time lingers into the following season. Hopefully, this isn’t the case with Murray, whose work ethic, leadership skills, and maturity have been questioned and critiqued by many this season, myself included.

This injury, as bad as it probably is, should be looked at as an opportunity for Murray. A blessing even, wrapped in the world’s biggest disguise. An opportunity for Kyler Murray to prove his doubters wrong not just with a speedy recovery, fate willing, but to return to the playing field stronger than he was in 2022.

And not only to return, but to put this tumultuous season behind him, and further return to being the player he was during the first half of 2021. While the Arizona Cardinals prepare for the worst, the worst will eventually pass, something that could happen as early as tomorrow.

Then comes the long rehab period if this injury is what everyone thinks it is. But with it, an opportunity to prove the doubters and critics wrong. I’m in that doubter and critic crowd, and I want Kyler Murray to prove me wrong. I’m looking forward to following his comeback trail, should an ACL tear be the culprit.
