Many Arizona Cardinals fans would give up on the franchise if Michael Bidwill hands the head-coaching reigns to Vance Joseph.
There’s a decent possibility that Kliff Kingsbury will be out as the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals following the squad’s regular-season finale with the San Francisco 49ers. It’s been a horrendous campaign for the team, and the fans’ excitement now revolves around the franchise finding a capable alternative for the floundering Kingsbury.
On Saturday, a particular report regarding the subject surfaced that should’ve put a scare into everyone who follows the Cardinals. According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, much-maligned defensive coordinator Vance Joseph is being seriously considered for the club’s head-coaching position. Has Cards owner Michael Bidwill flipped his lid?
Promoting the undeserving Joseph would be an indication that Bidwill has completely lost touch with the Arizona fanbase. Many members of the “Red Sea” are demanding that the organization hire either Sean Payton or Jim Harbaugh as a replacement for Kingsbury. Bidwill would never succeed in convincing the masses that the undeserving Joseph would be the better choice over a pair of proven winners like Payton or Harbaugh.
Promoting Vance Joseph would be another mistake by the Arizona Cardinals
Joseph was given an opportunity to be a head coach back in 2017, when the Denver Broncos signed the defensive guru to a four-year contract. To say that things didn’t work out would be an understatement. Joseph was relieved of his duties just two years into the deal after the Broncos compiled an ugly 11-21 record.
If that isn’t enough, Joseph has presided over a Cardinals defense that has been gashed for a whopping 25.7 points per matchup heading into Week 18. Only the Minnesota Vikings and the Chicago Bears have given up more this season in the entire National Football League. Not exactly the kind of coaching performance from a coordinator that should result in such a hefty promotion.
Long-suffering Cards fans have never been rewarded with a Super Bowl championship. Anyone who believes that the club could accomplish that feat with an unsuccessful retread like Joseph needs to have their head examined. All we can do is hope that Bidwill would never even consider such a move, and that Breer’s report is a complete and utter fabrication.
