Despite recently signing a five-year contract extension, Kliff Kingsbury is out as head coach of the Arizona Cardinals. Candidates to replace him include Sean Payton, Vance Joseph, and Demeco Ryans, among others.
The team made a change at general manager as well, so an entirely new regime will run the Cardinals next season. With the search officially underway, who is the betting favorite to be Arizona’s head coach next season?

You’ll notice a trend here of experience, whether as a coach of a Super Bowl team like Sean Payton or a strong run as a coordinator like Byron Leftwich and Eric Bienemy.
Current Cardinals’ defensive coordinator Vance Joseph will get a look, and his odds have risen over the last couple of days. If Arizona wants to bring someone in, the Cardinals certainly have plenty of qualified choices.
Demeco Ryans is widely considered one of the best defensive coordinators in the NFL with the 49ers, while Leftwich, Ben Johnson, Shane Steichen, Bienemy, and Kellen Moore have all coordinated top 10 offenses over the last few seasons.
All that said, Payton may be Arizona’s top choice given he’s the only candidate to have coached a Super Bowl champion. With a vacuum of power in the front office, the idea of more control may appeal to Payton.
