A recent report indicates that the Arizona Cardinals could still be handed an opportunity to lure Jim Harbaugh to the desert.

A couple of weeks ago, one of the most sought-after head-coaching candidates was eliminated from an ongoing search for the Arizona Cardinals. Is there a possibility that the highly-coveted individual may now be back on owner Michael Bidwill’s short list?

It just so happens that University of Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh could once again be in play for at least one professional job. According to reports, Denver Broncos CEO Greg Penner met with the former NFL signal-caller this past week. Apparently, Harbaugh may have renewed interest in returning to the league that he’s both played in and coached in during his football career.

If Sean Payton is the preferred choice of Cards fans, Harbaugh would almost certainly be a close second for anyone who knows the game. The “Red Sea” is well aware of what the Wolverines leader is capable of from the outstanding job he once did with the San Francisco 49ers. Arizona is in dire need of someone who can get quarterback Kyler Murray back on track, and Harbaugh is more than qualified to do that and more for the organization.

Arizona Cardinals should be impressed with Jim Harbaugh’s coaching resume

Harbaugh engineered a highly-productive stint with the 49ers roughly a decade ago. In the four campaigns (2011-14) that the Ohio native was at the helm, San Francisco won an impressive 44 regular-season games. And that doesn’t even include the success that Harbaugh enjoyed in the postseason.

During the first three years that Harbaugh was in charge, the 49ers represented the NFC West in the playoffs. The squad got incredibly close to yet another Vince Lombardi Trophy, but suffered a 34-31 defeat at the hands of John Harbaugh’s Baltimore Ravens. The matchup marked the first time in league history that two brothers competed against each other as head coaches in the Super Bowl.

The Cardinals would be especially intrigued by what Harbaugh was able to do with a pair of starting passers. Both Alex Smith and Colin Kaepernick excelled under the tutelage of the offensive mastermind. Murray undoubtedly needs a teacher who can steer him in a positive direction.

Could the Cards still have an opportunity to lure the well-respected Harbaugh to the desert? There appeared to be zero chance of that happening just a couple of weeks ago. But after recent developments, Arizona followers should never say never.
