The Arizona Cardinals appear to have finally completed the interview process for their next head coach. So who should win the job?

At this point, many Arizona Cardinals fans have their own preferences for the next head coach. If you ask 100 fans, odds are 50 will want Mike Kafka and another 50 would roll with Lou Anarumo. So who would I choose between the two?

Honestly, I see plenty of good and bad in each candidate. Anarumo’s experience with rebuilding bad football teams is one reason he should land the gig. But then again, why did it take him so long to even land a coordinator job in the NFL? He will be 57 years old this season, and he only became a coordinator when the Bengals hired Zac Taylor in 2019.

Then there is Mike Kafka, who has a better chance of clicking with quarterback Kyler Murray early. But with just one season as an NFL coordinator, Kafka is a virtual unknown. He was also the product of a remarkable system with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Arizona Cardinals need a coach who will set the tone

So who should they hire if Kafka and Anarumo are indeed the finalists? I say if, because of the following statement in a recent article:

"“NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo reported on Feb. 4 that Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo was getting another interview, and NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport added on that same day that Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka was also moving to the next round.“Bidwill did not name names, but he noted that two second-round interviews have taken place this week.” – via NFL.com."

We’ve been told Kafka and Anarumo are the two finalists, but what’s not to say it’s just a big smokescreen? Assuming the Cardinals name either Kafka or Anarumo the head coach next week, which one would be the best fit?

Honestly, the one who will bring a no-nonsense approach to the Arizona Cardinals. One who won’t let the team relax or put it in cruise control during training camp. And definitely the one who is more willing to be more of a disciplinarian if players arrive late for meetings or who aren’t taking practices seriously.

Must Read. Arizona Cardinals could wind up playing against Kliff in 2023. light

In other words, I’d love to see the coach with a Bill Parcells type of personality take over. Whichever of the two finalists can best relay that is who I’m rooting for.
