The Arizona Cardinals are reportedly highly interested in handing their vacant head-coaching position to the defensive guru.

Over the past several days, fans of the Arizona Cardinals were under the impression that the team’s vacant head-coaching position would be handed to one of two remaining candidates. It looked as if either Lou Anarumo or Mike Kafka would emerge as Kliff Kingsbury’s replacement, and the official announcement would be coming just hours after the conclusion of Super Bowl LVII.

According to several reports, the Cards have added yet another individual to this ongoing search. Jonathan Gannon, the defensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles, is scheduled to meet with Arizona on Monday. Will the franchise’s quest for a new head coach ever reach it’s conclusion?

Actually, a decision on who the Redbirds are going to roll with could be just hours away. There are those who believe that Gannon is a prime candidate for the gig. If that’s the case, there’s a legitimate chance that the 40-year-old could be calling the Philly brass to tell them that he has received an offer from the Cardinals that he can’t refuse.

Arizona Cardinals should make a decision after interviewing Jonathan Gannon

Of course, Gannon coming to an agreement with the Cards is far from a done deal. Who’s to say that owner Michael Bidwill and general manager Monti Ossenfort won’t decide that either Anarumo or Kafka is a better option. It’s also possible that Gannon could say no thanks to Arizona after his meeting with the club concludes.

Landing Gannon could open up some exciting possibilities for the Cardinals defensive unit. Philadelphia defensive tackle Javon Hargrave and cornerback James Bradberry have contracts that will expire next month. Could one or both of those stud defenders elect to follow Gannon to the desert when the free-agent signing period gets underway in March?

The Cards’ coaching search could finally be coming to an end. Anarumo and Kafka have not been eliminated from consideration, and Gannon is now in the mix. Stay turned Red Sea, a decision could be coming in just a matter of hours.
