The Arizona Cardinals nailed their first-round draft pick by selecting Ole Miss defensive tackle Walter Nolen. Monti Ossenfort utilized free agency to set himself up to draft the best available player with his first pick, and he did just that.
The fun doesn't stop there, though. After an electric first round, plenty of high-caliber prospects are still available on day two. Again, the Cardinals don't have any true needs, but these players could help complete their roster and set them up to compete in 2025.
Arizona Cardinals top targets on day two of the NFL Draft
Will Johnson, Michigan CB
We've made our support of Will Johnson known here on Raising Zona. Based on talent, this is a top-fifteen prospect at a relative position of need who is there for the taking in the second round. That seems like a no-brainer.
Clearly, teams are not comfortable with what they're seeing in Johnson's medical evaluations. Knee injuries can absolutely derail the careers of skill position players. But if the Cardinals believe that Johnson has at least five years of quality play in him, they should not hesitate to make this pick.
Remember, Monti Ossenfort has drafted Garrett Williams despite concerns about his injury status, and that's worked out pretty well so far.
Jaylin Noel, Iowa State WR
This pick would be electric for the Cardinals. Jaylin Noel is the true deep threat that Arizona's offense lacks. Sure, there are weaker areas on the roster than the pass-catching group, but this addition would open up acres of space for Marvin Harrison Jr. and Trey McBride to take advantage of.
Noel is a shifty and explosive route runner who seems to always find space down the field. He should go early in the second round, so the Cardinals may need to move up a few spots to get him.
J.T. Tuimoloau, Ohio State DE
The point of the NFL Draft is to draft good football players. J.T. Tuimoloau is a good football player. His limited explosiveness and lack of flexibility cap his potential, but Tuimoloau is a ready-made starter on the edge.
The former Ohio State defender is technically sound in all areas and holds the edge well against the run. He can be effective as a pocket-pusher on passing downs. If Tuimoloau falls into the Cardinals' laps in the second round, he would be difficult to pass up.
Marcus Mbow, Purdue OG
The Cardinals could still benefit from adding another capable starter along the offensive line. Marcus Mbow could step in as an immediate starter at guard for Arizona, and he might be available in the third round.
Mbow played right tackle in his final two seasons at Purdue, but he started his collegiate career as a right guard. According to ESPN, he's the 56th-best player left on the board.
Kyle Williams, Washington State WR
Williams is another player who might be available in the third round. Like Jaylin Noel, he would help solve Arizona's need for a speedy deep threat. In his final season at Washington State, Williams totaled over 1,100 receiving yards and averaged over 17 yards per catch.
He has the speed to beat defensive backs over the top and the ball skills to consistently come down with deep passes. Williams is even effective with the ball in his hands, averaging 8.4 yards after the catch.
