A valuable free agent is still available and he could help the Arizona Cardinals where they need help — in the secondary.
It’s Eagles cornerback James Bradberry, who played for Arizona coach Jonathan Gannon for one season in Philadelphia. Bradberry started all 17 games in the Eagles’ 2022 Super Bowl season. The Eagles told Bradberry last month he would be a post-June 1 release.
Bleacher Report wrote a story about the one free agent who can help each NFL team and it chose Bradberry as a good match for Arizona.
From B/R: “After ranking 21st in net yards per completion allowed last season, the Arizona Cardinals could afford to add to their cornerback room.
“While James Bradberry has had a rough couple of seasons with the Eagles — he didn’t see regular-season action in 2024 — he’s an experienced veteran with 124 starts on his resume.”
James Bradberry's health might be of concern to the Cardinals
Bradberry didn’t play in 2024 as he recovered from what he said was a torn Achilles’. Bradberry, who will turn 32 in August, has played eight NFL seasons. He was drafted by the Panthers in the second round of the 2016 draft (62nd overall).
Bradberry has 19 career interceptions, which he returned for 150 yards. He has 112 passes defended. He also has 478 tackles.
He has good size for a defensive back at 6-foot-2. Bradberry was an excellent in the Eagles’ 2022 season, teaming with Darius Slay to provide mostly shutdown cornerback play.
Bradberry was involved in a controversial play against the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. He was called for a ticky-tack holding penalty that allowed the Chiefs to keep possession, run down the clock and kick a game-winning field goal.
More Cardinals news: Former Arizona LB linked to another NFC team
Bleacher Report also linked former Cardinals linebacker Kyzir White with the Buccaneers.
“The Tampa Bay Buccaneers added Anthony Walker Jr. in free agency and will bring back Lavonte David for his 14th season with the franchise," Bleacher Report wrote.
“Adding 29-year-old linebacker Kyzir White to the mix would make a ton of sense for Tampa.”
White played two productive seasons in Arizona — 2023 and 2024. He had 227 tackles, 4.5 sacks, six forced fumbles and 18 tackles for loss with the Cardinals. He has played seven seasons.
He was a solid, run-stopping linebacker, a position the Cardinals addressed with the free-agent signings of Akeem Davis-Gaither and Mykal Walker.
The Cardinals also could address the linebacker position in the draft, which will be held April 24 to 26 in Green Bay.
