NFL general managers are always looking to improve their rosters. While the peaks of the offseason may be free agency and the NFL Draft, general managers don't rest until the 53-man roster is finalized.
As we inch closer to the start of training camp, there are still quality veterans to be found in the free agent market. According to a Bleacher Report analyst, one of them could be a perfect fit for the Arizona Cardinals.
Analyst lists Cardinals as a landing spot for CB Kendall Fuller
In a recent article, Bleacher Report writer Kristopher Knox listed the top remaining cornerbacks in free agency after Jaire Alexander's deal with the Baltimore Ravens. Knox connected Kendall Fuller to the Arizona Cardinals.
According to Knox, "Arizona could use secondary depth after ranking 21st in net yards per pass attempt allowed last season, and Fuller's positional versatility would mesh with Jonathan Gannon's defense."
Kendall Fuller has seen his fair share of NFL action throughout his career. In his nine seasons, Fuller has played for the Washington Commanders, Kansas City Chiefs, and Miami Dolphins. He played in just 11 games for the Dolphins in 2024, logging a total of 556 snaps.
Fuller isn't the star cornerback that he once was. As we move closer to training camp, there's a reason that he's still available in free agency. Fuller is 30 years old, and production typically drops significantly for cornerbacks at the end of their careers.
Still, the Cardinals should take a good look at signing Fuller before training camp kicks off. Fuller is a quality veteran with a wealth of experience in different NFL systems. He was even a key piece in Kansas City's Super Bowl LIV run.
After Sean Murphy-Bunting's season-ending injury, the Cardinals are without a veteran cornerback. Murphy-Bunting was likely set to retain the starting role he had last season, at least in most packages. Now, the team is expected to start Garrett Williams, Will Johnson, and Max Melton at cornerback. All three players are 24 years old or younger.
Kendall Fuller could provide the veteran presence that the Cardinals' cornerback group is missing. Even if he doesn't end up starting for Arizona, he could be a mentor for the team's young defensive backs. If players like Johnson or Williams, who have both had health issues in the past, suffer an injury in 2025, Fuller could serve as the perfect depth piece.
With a clear need at the position and the cap space to spend, this move makes too much sense for the Arizona Cardinals.
