The Arizona Cardinals spent their third-round pick on Miami quarterback Carson Beck. Whether or not Beck is the solution to their quarterbacking woes remains to be seen but the team will likely put the rookie on the field at some point during the 2026 season.

Jordan Reid and the NFL Nation crew at ESPN broke down when the Cardinals might thrust Beck into action in 2026. Josh Weinfuss had this to say:

"Beck could see time at any point of the upcoming season. While it's not likely, there is potential for him to be the Week 1 starter. If that doesn't happen, Beck could be thrust into the lineup at any point; midseason if the Cardinals struggle out of the gate or November/December if the season is lost. If Arizona falls out of playoff contention, don't be surprised if the team throws him out there to see what it has entering the 2027 draft. While starting Week 1 is a long shot, there's a distinct possibility of Beck playing at any point from Week 2 on."

Carson Beck's Cardinals debut could come at any time during 2026 season

This seems pretty spot-on. If the Cardinals are winning games with Jacoby Brissett at the helm or if Brissett is playing decently, then Beck will stay on the bench. If, however, the Cardinals are struggling and Brissett isn't playing well, then it could be time for the Miami product to make his NFL debut.

The Cardinals currently have a quarterback room that consists of Beck, Brissett, Gardner Minshew, and Kedon Slovis but it's unlikely that Slovis makes the final roster. The team could also potentially end up trading Minshew if a team suffers an injury at quarterback and needs some depth at the position.

The Cardinals will see plenty of playing time from Beck this preseason and that could determine whether he enters the season as Brissett's backup or a third-stringer. Either way, the heat will be on Brissett early in the season, especially if he's not playing well. As soon as he struggles, fans will be clamoring for a change to be made at quarterback and Beck could be thrown to the wolves sooner than he's ready for.

If Beck does end up getting to play, this will give Arizona's front office a chance to get a good look at him before next year's draft. If the Cardinals end up with another high draft pick in 2027, Beck's performance this year could be a big deciding factor if they use that pick on a quarterback or not.

It'll be interesting to see how the Carson Beck saga plays out in Arizona and Cardinals fans will be anxiously awaiting his first snaps as the starting quarterback, whenever that day may come.
