The Jacoby Brissett trade between the Arizona Cardinals and Baltimore Ravens was officially completed on Friday. Here are the full details of the trade, per ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Cardinals receive: 2027 fourth-round pick, 2028 seventh-round pick
Ravens receive: Jacoby Brissett, 2027 fifth-round pick
Why the Cardinals made this trade
The Ravens were desperate to find a quarterback before the Nov. 10 trade deadline after Lamar Jackson suffered a potentially season-ending thumb injury. But let's not forget the Cardinals were also desperate to flip Brissett into something of value after he was benched by Mike LaFleur in place of Gardner Minshew II.
Brissett was demoted to QB3 and requested a trade shortly after LaFleur's decision. With his contract expiring, they at least turned nothing into something by moving up in the 2027 draft and picking up a 2028 seventh-round pick in the process.
Why the Ravens made this trade
The fifth-round pick that the Cardinals are sending back to the Ravens really evens out the deal for Baltimore. Arizona will likely land a top-ten pick in the draft, and if they embrace the rebuild and turn to rookie Carson Beck to finish the season, that pick could end up closer to a late fourth-round pick from Baltimore's perspective. Even though it's a different round, the gap between those overall pick numbers likely won't be drastic, especially if Brissett helps the Ravens start winning more games.
Grading the Jacoby Brissett deal for both teams
This deal came down to desperation from both sides. Perhaps the Cardinals had more leverage in negotiations and could've squeezed a bit more out of Baltimore in terms of draft compensation. This trade not materializing wouldn't have been a huge deal for the Cardinals, but it essentially would mean the end of the Ravens' season if they failed to find a replacement for Jackson before the deadline.
Brissett struggled to start the season in Arizona, but also wasn't a great fit overall. He's proven to be a replacement-level quarterback throughout his career, and it could be just enough to keep Baltimore's season afloat.
For the Cardinals, at least they continue trending in the right direction as a rebuilding team that continues to stockpile future assets. It makes the decision to rework Brissett's deal this summer laughable, but GM Monti Ossenfort has at least done a good job of pivoting from his mistakes this season.
Maybe the Ravens got the better end of the deal in terms of draft compensation relative to Brissett's importance to their season. But this very much looks like a win-win for both teams.
Ravens: B+
Cardinals: B
