There is truly only one area of need left on the Arizona Cardinals roster after the 2025 NFL Draft. General manager Monti Ossenfort used free agency and the NFL draft to perfection, filling every hole on the Cardinals defense and transforming a unit that hindered the team's success last season.

The offense has been ignored, for the most part. The Cardinals' biggest investment on offense has been signing backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett to a two-year, $12.5 million deal.

Arizona still lacks a deep threat in the receiver room. They struggled to push the ball down the field last season, limiting the overall production of the offense.

Apparently, the Cardinals are confident in what they currently have on offense. Their lack of movement begs the question: Is the answer already on Arizona's roster?

Xavier Weaver may be the answer to the Cardinals need at receiver

Okay, you may be thinking, "Who?"

Xavier Weaver was on the Arizona Cardinals final 53-man roster in 2024, but he didn't get on the field much. He played on offense in just two games, with a total of two targets and zero catches. On the surface, he doesn't exactly look like the shining knight the Cardinals receiver room needs.

But Weaver has the skill set to make an impact in his second season. The former Colorado receiver had nearly 1,000 receiving yards in his final collegiate season. Weaver was able to stretch the field deep at Colorado, earning 34 first downs on his 68 total catches.

At 6'1" with a solid 4.42-second forty-yard dash, Weaver has the athletic ability to succeed in the NFL. In his limited playing time last season, he showed intriguing flexibility and ball skills.

It's unlikely that Weaver, who barely played in 2024, will step in as a full-time starter at the beginning of the 2025 season. He still has plenty of growing to do as a player. But if the Arizona Cardinals are searching internally for a receiver to stretch the field next season, Xavier Weaver might just be their man.
