NFL players make trade requests all the time. For the most part, it's little more than a way for players to gain leverage in contract negotiations. This time, there might actually be something brewing.

Miami Dolphins star cornerback Jalen Ramsey has made his desire to move on from the team known. If he ends up being traded to the team that most experts expect, it could spell disaster for the Arizona Cardinals.

Jalen Ramsey potential trade could be terrible news for the Cardinals

Jalen Ramsey has been open about his desire to be traded throughout the 2025 NFL offseason. Recently, rumors about a potential trade have been heating up, and there's one potential landing spot that just makes too much sense: the Los Angeles Rams.

Over the last week, Ramsey has been posting on social media about being done with the Miami Dolphins. Player posts often don't mean much, but he's been using definitive language.

In one recent post on X, Ramsey was very clear, saying, "a new chapter awaits."

The Los Angeles Rams have built a strong roster this offseason, highlighted by their moves on the offensive side of the ball. Their one glaring weakness is at the cornerback position. Jalen Ramsey, who won a Super Bowl with the Rams back in 2022, could be their perfect answer.

The Rams have never been shy about shelling out draft capital in exchange for star players. It's how they built their championship-winning team. With such a pressing need at cornerback, it's hard to imagine that they would hesitate to bring Jalen Ramsey back to L.A.

If the two sides agree on a trade, it would likely be after the new league year starts on June 1.

This potential trade is terrible news for the Arizona Cardinals. Even if Ramsey is no longer the elite cornerback that he was in his prime, he would still be a major upgrade for the Rams defense.

The Cardinals were able to take advantage of the Rams' weak secondary in 2024, especially in their first matchup. In that game, Marvin Harrison Jr. had the best performance of his entire rookie season, posting 130 yards and two touchdowns.

As the Arizona Cardinals push for a playoff appearance in the 2025 season, they will need to capitalize on any advantage they have over their division rivals. If the Los Angeles Rams bring in Jalen Ramsey, the Cardinals will have to find new ways to win.
