The Arizona Cardinals could roll with Clayton Tune as the backup next season, or they could look for a more proven name to fill the role.

2 - Marcus Mariota, Philadelphia

Marcus Mariota is the second quarterback on this list who would fare well if asked to start for an extended time. The former No. 2 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft never panned out, but it doesn’t mean he hasn’t been effective during his NFL career, including last season when he did an adequate job for an ailing Atlanta Falcons team.

At the time of this writing, Mariota has logged 74 starts and won 34 of them, but he did put together three straight winning seasons during his time with the Tennessee Titans, so he’s proven he can win games when called upon. Mariota is also a mobile quarterback, so offensive coordinator Drew Petzing wouldn’t need to tailor the playbook for the soon-to-be 10-year veteran.

While it’s true Mariota hasn’t shown that he has as much talent as Kyler Murray nor will he make the impossible happen, he’s still shown us he can be a reliable starter. Therefore, if the Cards want experience and a player with a proven track record should the No. 1 name on this list go elsewhere, they must make a push to sign Mariota.
