Daryl Washington: A Closer Look

facebooktwitterreddit

It was exciting to hear that Arizona Cardinals second round pick Daryl Washington, out of  TCU, signed his contract this week and would be in camp on time. He is someone that the Cardinals expect to contribute right away.

To be honest, I was looking for the Cards to take another TCU LB, Jerry Hughes. When I heard Washington's name I was a little disappointed, however looking closer at the numbers Washington produced as a senior in 2009, I'm just fine with this selection.

Washington was All-Mountain West in 2009, leading TCU in tackles with 109, 11 of which were for loss. He also had three interceptions and two sacks.  Washington was also a finalist in 2009 for the Butkus Award, which is given to the top college football linebacker.  He really came on in his senior season.  He was primarily a backup until his senior year.

Now, I'm not going to sit here and say Washington is going make you immediately forget about Karlos Dansby.  What I will tell you, based on what I know, he will work just as hard and eventually should win any doubters over pretty quick.
