For the first time this offseason, something good happened to Arizona Cardinals’ linebacker Daryl Washington.

According to Fox News, Washington pleaded not guilty of assaulting his ex-girlfriend. Washington was suspended four games for failing a drug test and could have sat out more games, but that appears unlikely at the moment.

Washington was a great player in 2012, as he anchored a stellar defense with 134 tackles and nine sacks. His offseason has hurt him, however, and he is currently practicing on the second-team defense. Luckily for Washington, it appears likely that these allegations won’t end up forcing him to miss any more games.

For now, all we know is that Washington likely won’t see jail time. Don’t expect a longer suspension, either.
