EA Sports released the top 5 ranked cornerbacks in this season’s edition of Madden.

Top 5 rankings of a number of positions in the Madden NFL 17 were released earlier today. Patrick Peterson was the only member of the Arizona Cardinals to make the top 5 of any list, and that too tied for fourth place.

Ahead of Peterson in the CB rankings was Washington Redskins’ Josh Norman (94 overall rating), followed by Denver Broncos Chris Harris Jr. (93 overall rating) and Seattle Seahawks’ Richard Sherman (92 overall rating.) Along with Peterson was New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis who were tied for fourth best (91 overall rating.)

Here is what was said about Peterson:

"Peterson is one of the games fastest defenders with 93 speed. Take advantage of his 92 man coverage rating and leave him in 1v1 situations. You can roll safety coverage towards other areas of the field and feel confident he will get the job done on the outside."

While I am not sure what goes down when it comes to evaluating a player’s worth in video game form, Peterson being ranked fourth seems too low.

After battling diabetes in 2014, Peterson bounced back in a big way and was named a Pro-Bowler and a First-team All-Pro. Peterson shutdown a plethora of big name receivers during the season, including Calvin Johnson, Antonio Brown and AJ Green.

Carson Palmer, after an MVP caliber season, wasn’t rated as a top five quarterback in this year’s addition of Madden. It’s only a video game, but Peterson and Palmer being undervalued is just another example of many overlooking the Cardinals.
