Now this makes me happy!!!!
The Arizona Cardinals’ 2007 season outlook just got a whole lot brighter in a hurry. Levi Brown is on his way to camp and could begin his work into the offensive line’s starting five as soon as Friday afternoon. According to Brown’s agents, his deal could potentially be worth $62 million, with $18 million guaranteed. That’s a pretty crazy set of numbers for an Offensive Tackle, but hey who cares at this point. For a franchise that has an owner notorious for his shallow pockets I’m actually impressed with their generosity. I think it finally signals the understanding from the Bidwells that in today’s modern sports market you have to spend to win, it’s that simple.
More than likely Brown’s contract will end up getting restructured in the future, but for now all the coaches and fans care about is that he shows up to camp healthy and ready to do what the team drafted him to do, blow open holes for Edge to fly through. As I mentioned in my last post, the inability of the First team offense to move in goal line situation is indicitive of just how much Brown’s abilities as a mauling run blocker are needed by this club. It will be interesting to see how long it takes Brown to become the team’s starting right tackle. We’ll be sure to watch that situation and keep you up to speed. All in all, Brown only missed five days of camp, which leaves him plenty of time to get into the mix with his new teammates.
Now we have a complete team in camp. Now we have the key players signed and locked in to this franchise for years to come. Now, all of us who have waited so long will get to see what this team can do with all of this talent and the right coach running the show. Am I being a little dramatic, yeah……so what?
GOOO CARDS!!!!!
