Now that the Arizona Cardinals preseason has concluded and all of the cuts to the 53 man roster have been made, there is still some change going on that we as fans may have to get used to.

We have come accustom to certain players in certain jersey numbers and after the cuts have been made players are getting ready for the regular season. Many of the Cardinal players have changed jersey numbers going into the regular season, and the fans will have to get adapted to them all over again.

Defensive end John Abraham has made his case for the number 55, trying to get it from Veteran Karlos Dansby, and it looks as though he has won. Abraham and Dansby have come to an agreement that will put Abraham back in his familiar number 55 he has worn the last seven years with the Atlanta falcons.

The deal has not been disclosed but Dansby did add by saying “The only way he can make it comfortable for me is to get a sack every game”. If that is the price and this is the same John Abraham from the Falcons who averaged 10 sacks per year, than he should come close to keeping this contract. Karlos Dansby will be in #56, which will be kind of weird, seeing we have not gotten used to seeing him in any other number but #58, which is occupied by linebacker Daryl Washington , but finding Dansby on the field should not be a problem, he’s all over the place on game day.

There are other jersey numbers that have changed: Undrafted rookie Tony Jefferson will make the switch from the familiar #36 we have seen all of preseason to the #22.

Linebacker Jasper Brinkley is changing to jersey #52 from his #54 that he also wore as a member of the Minnesota Vikings, why the change? I have yet to find out.

Offensive tackle Eric Winston will change from #65 to #73 which may be closer to his old number 74 when he was with the Kansas City Chiefs. Also safety Rashad Johnson will make the change from #49 to #26, Johnson said there was no reason for the change.

These changes will throw us off for the first week then we will get used to seeing these guys in their new gear, as long as they are making plays we will recognize them.
