Last week the high-powered Arizona Cardinals offense managed just 18 points against a stingy San Diego Chargers defense.  The New York Giants only scored 14 points while trying to adjust to their new West Coast Offense in a 35-14 loss to the Detroit Lions.  This week is a tough call but I think there are some guys worth playing.

Cardinals:

Receiver Michael Floyd at receiver is a sure bet.  He has clearly emerged as a play maker.  He may not always see the most targets but he is the big play receiver now.  He had a 63-yard reception.  If you are in a league that credits points for yardage, he’s your man.

Running back Andre Ellington, who is likely to play but is still with a foot injury, isn’t going to rush for 200 yards but what he will do is provide balance.  He will rush for anywhere from 50-100 yards but he will also catch a number of passes.  He had five receptions last week.  If you are in a point per reception league, Ellington needs to be in your lineup.

Giants:

One of your best bets with the Giants still lie with quarterback Eli Manning.  The Cards defense is still suspect with depth thanks to injuries.  They did manage to pressure Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers pretty well but Rivers still had his moments.  Eli may still throw a pick but I would not be surprised to get a touchdown or two out of him in the home opener.

If you have tight end Larry Donnell, start him.  The Cards proved last week they still have difficulty covering tight ends.  Granted, it was Antonio Gates they had to cover but Donnell played well in Detroit last Monday including scoring a touchdown.
