Arizona Cardinals: Ranked 24th most depressing team

A recent USA Today article ranked all 32 NFL teams from most to least depressing.

While some NFL franchises like the Packers, Colts, and Patriots don’t bring on thoughts of depression, USA Today was still able to put together a ranked list of most depressing teams to least depressing teams. There were a lot of surprises on the list as well as things that weren’t really surprises.

At the top of the list were teams that you expect to be the most depressing; Philadelphia, Washington, Cleveland, Oakland and Buffalo (in that order). While I would’ve put Cleveland at number 1, all the right teams were put at the top of the list except for Oakland. The Raiders have a solid foundation set with Derek Carr, Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper, so they’re not as depressing as the used to be, and are definitely on the the upswing.

There were many surprises on this list, with the first one being the ranking of the New England Patriots. Coming off a Super Bowl victory you’d expect to be ranked on the lower spectrum of the rankings, instead the Patriots were ranked 6th. New England was ranked as such due to Patriots fans not being able to say anything positive about the team since someone will most likely bring up Deflategate or Spygate in response.

The most surprising ranking on this list was the team ranked as least depressing. You’d think that a team like the Packers, Seahawks, Broncos or the Colts would be ranked as least depressing, but you’d be wrong. The rebuilding Jacksonville Jaguars were ranked as the least depressing due to the fact that they nihilist. Not a very logical reason to rank them least depressing, but it’s something I can live with.

The Arizona Cardinals were ranked 24th, ahead of the Miami Dolphins at 23, and before the San Diego Chargers at 25. This ranking make sense, since there’s not much reason for Cardinals fans to be depressed about. The team is on the rise and looking to contend for a Super Bowl championship in the foreseeable future. Here is what the article had to say about the Arizona Cardinals:

"“The depression hits when you realize the Seattle Seahawks are always going to be in the NFC West. But two-straight 10-win seasons and the knowledge that the Seahawks success can all go away like the 49ers — poof! — should keep spirits buoyant.”"

A new NFL season is on the horizon and many eager fans are waiting to see how the revamped Arizona Cardinals looking for redemption are going to perform.
