Arizona Cardinals: Fantasy Starters for Week 3

Here we take a look at the Cardinals players you should consider starting this week in fantasy football.

The Arizona Cardinals face off against the retooled San Francisco 49ers at home in Week 3. With the 49ers defense not being what it used to be, it should be a good day at the office for the Cardinals offensive players. Who are the players that are expected to have good fantasy outputs? Let’s find out!

Carson Palmer, Quarterback

Let’s get the obvious out of the way. Palmer has been on fire this season for the Arizona Cardinals since returning from his ACL injury. In two games against the Saints and the Bears, Palmer has thrown for 7 total touchdowns with only 1 interception to go along with 492 yards. With the 49ers susceptible secondary visiting town, it’s a great opportunity for Palmer to have a field day, with the variety of weapons surrounding him. That being said, look for a 3 touchdown and 250+ yard passing game from Palmer this week.

Larry Fitzgerald, Wide Receiver

Larry Fitzgerald has been playing like the player we all knew he was. Last week we correctly predicted that Fitzgerald would have his first hundred yard receiving game in 6 games. As the prophecy predicted, Fitzgerald scorched the Bears weak secondary to a tune of 112 yards and 3 touchdowns. Expect Fitzgerald to slip by an inconsistent 49ers secondary for a 80+ yard and 1 touchdown receiving game.

John Brown, Wide Receiver

John Brown hasn’t had any standout games so far this season, but he has been very consistent. Against the Saints, Brown caught 4 passes for 45 yards and a touchdown. Similarly, he had a 5 catch, 46 yard performance against the Bears. With Larry Fitzgerald, David Johnson and Michael Floyd possibly occupying the attention of the 49ers defense, look for Brown to fit through the holes in the defense with his speed. With Palmer spreading the ball around so far, Brown should do some damage bringing home a 60+ yard and 2 touchdown game.

David Johnson, Running Back

David Johnson has had an explosive first two weeks in the NFL and has already made the Hall of Fame (his jersey did at least). In a run the clock down situation, Johnson went ahead and took a screen pass 55 yards to the house to clinch the game for the Arizona Cardinals. Likewise, Johnson took the opening kickoff against the Bears 108 yards back for a touchdown. To put icing on the cake, he ran for 42 yards and a touchdown. While Chris Johnson is going to see a bulk of the carries as running back, expect David Johnson to make an impact in the game and for your fantasy team, whether it’s on offense or special teams.

The Arizona Cardinals are averaging 39.5 points per game this season, and after giving up 43 points to the Steelers last week, expect Carson Palmer and co. to light up a dejected 49er team to similar score this week.
