Notre Dame – Junior

The Bengals are a very dangerous team when all the pieces are playing cohesively, or when the Bengals aren’t playing in the playoffs. I don’t mean to make jokes about their inability to get passed the playoff hurdle, but really it’s becoming unbearable. It just seems like an impossible feat, the many fans see the struggles, and we can do nothing for them (although, they don’t have it as rough as the Browns fans). There aren’t many needs that the Bengals need to address this off-season, yet they will be back fully restocked and ready to go. Andy Dalton and A.J. Green are still who they’ve been, a fun combo, and I don’t see their offensive line being bad.

I know that a lot of people are going to say “where the heck is Michael Thomas, Josh Doctson or Braxton Miller?”, and I will tell you they are just a smidge behind my third receiver. Will Fuller surprised everyone (including me) when he changed his mind about coming out for the draft. Fuller has the most speed in this whole draft, has the best burst off the line of scrimage, and played in a complicated system at Notre Dame. Sometimes his feet are faster then his hands, meaning he sometimes drops a few long balls. I think he has better hands then Ted Ginn Jr. (speedster from Carolina), and could be pro bowl kick/punt returner.

With the impending free agency approaching, the core wide receivers set in place for the Bengals are set to become free agents. Mohamed Sanu, Marvin Jones, and Brandon Tate are all set to hit the open market. The Bengals did just draft Mario Alford and James Wright in consecutive drafts, so depth isn’t an issue. The Bengals will eventually keep one of the receivers (either Jones or Sanu), just depends on who is more valuable. Some would wonder about the secondary with George Iloka, Reggie Nelson, Leon Hall, and Adam “Pacman” Jones as free agents also. That’s why I think the Bengals need to focus on them rather then the receivers, they need to keep their core together in the secondary.
