The Arizona Cardinals continue to nurse several injuries, including one suffered Friday night

The injury bug so far hasn’t been too drastic for the Arizona Cardinals since training camp started over three weeks ago.  Over the first two preseason games, the Cardinals have come out relatively unscathed with a couple of exceptions.

Linebacker Alex Okafor seems to have the most serious injury.  Head coach Bruce Arians after the 19-3 loss to the San Diego Chargers Friday night said that Okafor has a torn biceps tendon.  He is currently deciding whether to have surgery or see if he can play through it.

Okafor also missed time in the 2015 playoffs because of an off-the-field foot injury.  The nature of the injury was not disclosed but it cost him a trip to the injured reserve.  Now, he is facing the same possibility with surgery.

Receiver Larry Fitzgerald was in street clothes on Friday night. He has a minor MCL injury.  The team kept him out of Friday night’s game as a precaution.  No word on his status for practice this week or next week’s game against the Houston Texans.

Another concern for the Cardinals though is receiver John Brown.  He hasn’t practiced in over two weeks since suffering a concussion on July 31st.  He has missed both preseason games.  Brown is still going through the concussion protocol.  There were no further updates on his condition Friday night.

From what Arians said earlier in the week, the Cardinals will take it slow with Brown.  It is the right call as there are still three more weeks to get him ready for the season opener.

Until Brown returns look for guys like Jaxon Shipley, Jaron Brown, and J.J. Nelson continue to get their shots over the last couple of weeks of camp and the preseason.  The key is to be healthy on September 11th and if that means missing the preseason, then so be it.
