Which Arizona Cardinals should you start in their Week 5 match up against the San Francisco 49ers?

The Arizona Cardinals will once again be hitting the road, this time for a divisional match up against the San Francisco 49ers. The Cardinals are coming off of their second straight loss, and have minimal time to regroup for Thursday night’s game. Arizona could also find itself without starting quarterback Carson Palmer.

Let’s take a look at the top 3 Cardinals that you need to have in your lineup for this week.

David Johnson, Running back

Last week: 83 rushing yards, 4 receptions, 41 yards, 1 lost fumble.

Quarterback Carson Palmer will miss Thursday’s game recovering from a possible concussion. Given Drew Stanton’s struggles since preseason, a majority of the offense will flow through running back David Johnson. Backup running back Chris Johnson suffered a groin injury Thursday and has been placed on IR. As a result, this can only mean one thing; more carries for Johnson.

Predicted stats: 125+ rushing yards, 1 rushing touchdowns, 3 receptions, 25 receiving yards

Chandler Catanzaro, Kicker

Last week: 1/1 PAT, 2/2 FG (25 yards, 21 yards)

The “Cat Man” makes his first appearance on this list and rightfully so. I don’t trust the offense in the hands of Drew Stanton, and expect a lot of drives to stall inside the 49ers’ 40 yard line. The offense already struggled to move the ball with Carson Palmer under center, things can only get worse with a regressing Drew Stanton.

Catanzaro has made all his field goal attempts since missing the game winner in Week 1. With an inferior offense, there is a good chance the Cardinals will have to settle for field goals on Thursday.

Predicted stats: 1/1 PAT, 3/3 FG (2 30+ yards, 1 40+ yards)

Arizona Cardinals, Defense/special teams

Last week: 2 sacks, 1 fumble recovery, 17 points allowed, 280 yards allowed.

The 49ers head into this game ranking 28th in total offense. On the other hand, the Cardinals defense has been successful in slowing down the run. Blaine Gabbert will have to lead the 49ers to victory given the strong possibility that Carlos Hyde will be held in check.

Predicted stats: 1+ interceptions, 3 sacks, 13-17 points allowed, 250-325 yards allowed.
