Linebacker Kevin Minter

Though he has never quite lived up to the expectations that are incumbent upon a player selected in the second round of the NFL draft, Arizona Cardinals linebacker Kevin Minter has developed into a decent starting middle linebacker.

As is the case with most of their impending free agents, the Arizona Cardinals would prefer to have Minter back in the fold next year. Unfortunately, the Cardinals’ cap situation requires that they prioritize their free agents, and it’s uncertain where Minter fits in that hierarchy.

Minter has indicated that he would like to return to Arizona, though he is also intrigued by free agency – including the possibility of re-joining former Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator, and current New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles.

At 26 years old, Minter is young enough to merit a multi-year investment. At the same time, the Cardinals could opt to spend their cap space elsewhere, and fill Minter’s spot through the draft or with a more affordable free agent.

Likelihood of returning: 35 percent
