Rex Burkhead would give the Cardinals another dual-threat at running back

The Cardinals were mostly a one-man show at running back last season. Injuries took out their primary backups, and David Johnson ended up shouldering most of the load, and ended up with nearly 300 carries, third in the NFL.

Rex Burkhead is entering his fifth year in the league, and is a former sixth round pick by the Cincinnati Bengals. He was used little in the four seasons he spent there, but did show what he could do in 2016, when pressed into action by injury. He averaged 4.6 yards per carry as a runner, and caught the ball well, both out of the backfield, and as a slot receiver at times.

The Cardinals could definitely use a running back to backup Johnson, and Burkhead has shown enough to be just that. He runs hard, catches the ball smoothly, and has some nice moves in the open field. He could come fairly cheap, and would be a nice addition to the backfield.
