While watching the draft, keep an eye out for three things the Arizona Cardinals could do

The NFL Draft is a week away, mocks are flying around, and people are getting excited. It’s really a great time of year. If you’re an Arizona Cardinals fan, you’re really excited because the team is picking at 13 in a draft loaded with talent. There’s talent at every position, and at 13 they could go best player available, and draft a future star. They could draft a need and find a starter for 2017 that would immediately make an impact.

With that being said, when watching the draft next week, keep an eye out for 3 things that could happen.

More from Cardinals Draft

1. The Cardinals go a whole different direction

This is one that I could absolutely see them doing. The Arizona Cardinals are in need of a cornerback, wide receiver, and quarterback. All of those positions have been linked to the Cardinals in mock drafts everywhere. Don’t be surprised if when a name is called it could be a linebacker, defensive or offensive lineman, or possibly even a tight end.

If Arizona decides to go the “best player available” route, that could be anyone at any position.

2. Cardinals could trade up or down

If the Arizona Cardinals are completely set on a player, don’t be surprised if they trade up. Also, if they feel like the player they want will fall later in the first round, they could trade down. This is something the Cardinals do very well. Look at the 2014 draft, where Keim traded down from the 20th to the 27th pick and took Deone Bucannon who is now a starter and a key defensive piece.

Keim isn’t afraid to pull the trigger on trades. If their board is set and they are comfortable, there’s no question.

3. Cardinals draft Carson Palmers replacement

This is a year where quarterbacks are one of the most talented positions in the draft. This is also the year the Cardinals need to start searching for Palmers replacement. At the 13th pick the Arizona Cardinals are likely to get their chance at a young quarterback whether it be Deshaun Watson, Patrick Mahomes, or Deshone Kizer. Most Mocks have Arizona taking a shot at Mahomes. Some have them taking Watson, but it will most likely depend on who’s available.

Keim and Arians have already acknowledged they like what they see from the QBs this year. Bruce Arians has also said that a rookie will take first team snaps when Palmer rests on Wednesday’s.
