The Cardinals open the season in Detroit against the Lions

The 2016 season was a strange one for the Detroit Lions. They started 1-3, then won eight of the next nine games. Unfortunately, they closed the season by losing their last four, including their first round playoff game.

The Lions got a big year from Matthew Stafford, and the offense proved to be as explosive as any through the air. However, they still struggled to find a running game, which ultimately made them one dimensional.

The Cardinals last played Detroit in 2015, when they blew the Lions out 42-17. The Lions haven’t beaten the Cardinals since 2005, with Arizona winning eight in a row. The Lions’ defense still has to prove they can defend the pass, and Bruce Arians and company are sure to put the pass defense to the test.

The Lions are a good team who should contend for the playoffs again. The Cardinals are hungry, though, and have history on their side. Arizona 34 – Detroit 27
