Darnell Dockett made noise on and off the field as a member of the Cardinals

A lot of fans might not think of Darnell Dockett as an all-time great defensive lineman. His numbers never jumped off the page. However, he was a key member, and leader of the defense during his time in Arizona.

Dockett spent ten seasons with the Cardinals after being a third round draft pick in 2004. He earned a starting job right away, and it wasn’t long before he was making waves with his play. His breakout season was in 2007, when he racked up nine sacks, and made the first of his three Pro Bowls.

With 40 1/2 regular season sacks for his career, Dockett ranks seventh in team history. His biggest moment, though, he saved for the postseason. In the franchise’s only Super Bowl appearance, Dockett had a record-tying three sacks.

He might be remembered for some of his off-the-field activities, particularly his Twitter account, but Dockett was a great player. He might not be a conventional choice for the Ring of Honor, but he certainly earned it.
