Former Arizona Cardinals and current Buffalo Bills receiver Anquan Boldin is retiring
News has just come out that former Arizona Cardinals and current Buffalo Bills receiver Anquan Boldin has informed the team that he is retiring. Apparently he left the team earlier on Sunday.
Quite a revelation from Boldin going into the third week of the preseason. Boldin was originally drafted by the Cardinals in 2003 and made his mark in the NFL right away.
In his first professional game at the Detroit Lions on September 7, 2003, Boldin caught 10 passes for 217-yards and two touchdowns, including a 71-yarder. He announced his arrival to the league early.
He spent the first seven years of his career with the Cardinals. He was a huge part of helping the Cardinals reach their first and only Super Bowl back in 2009 following the 2008 season.
After the Super Bowl season, he played just one more in Arizona. He left amid his unhappiness with his contract, a situation that played out in the media for quite sometime.

He caught 44-touchdowns over his seven years with the Cardinals. Of those seven years, five of them he went over 1,000-yards receiving.
After he left Arizona, he spent three years with the Baltimore Ravens, one of which he went to a Super Bowl as well. Then he was with the San Francisco 49ers for three years and then played one year in Detroit in 2016.
it took awhile for him to latch onto a team in this offseason. He eventually signed with the Buffalo Bills a couple of weeks ago on August 7th. He caught one pass for five-yards this weekend against the Philadelphia Eagles.
There were a number of Cardinals fans hoping he’d make a return to Arizona this offseason given the supposed need for a veteran receiver to join the team. In the end Buffalo it was.
Boldin has been missed in Arizona since the day he left. Now, he will be missed on the field all-together. If this is truly it, he finishes his career with 13,779-yards receiving and a total of 83 touchdowns, 82 of them receiving. We wish him the best of luck in retirement.
