After looking at impact veterans for the Arizona Cardinals, who will the impact rookies be this season for the team?

The Arizona Cardinals in recent years past didn’t see a lot of impact from many rookies.  That was by design in Bruce Arians’ system.  Things have changed.

Head coach Steve Wilks is a first-time head coach.  We don’t necessarily know how he feels about rookie players.

Based on who they currently have on the roster, there are a few rookies who could make an immediate impact and others that may get the chance as a rookie depending on circumstances.

Immediate impact:

Receiver Christian Kirk may have the biggest potential impact.  He is going to likely end up being one of the top four receivers.

Of course we thought the same thing would happen with Chad Williams last season and it didn’t happen.  He could be a second-year impact this season.

Running back Chase Edmonds has a real shot at backing up David Johnson.  That’s saying something coming out of small school Fordham.

Mason Cole out of Michigan has potential to make an impact with his versatility.  He remains however the only rookie draft pick yet to sign his contract.

Potential to have impact:

Austin Ramesh out of Wisconsin should challenge for the fullback spot.  The Cardinals also signed Derrick Coleman.  It is a position that returns to Arizona after a five-year absence.

Josh Rosen could make an impact.  He has not been ruled out of action this season.  However it likely takes either Sam Bradford and Mike Glennon getting injured or the Cardinals out of the playoff race for Rosen to see the field in the regular season.

Deatrick Nichols should keep his head high.  Just because the Cardinals found Jamar Taylor in a trade, tat doesn’t mean the cornerback position is signed sealed and delivered.

Next: Arizona Cardinals remaining offseason schedule

Nichols was quite an impact player at South Florida with 11 interceptions the last three seasons. Some expected him to compete for a starting job before Taylor arrived.  He could still be fighting for some decent playing time.
