The Arizona Cardinals placed a few players on their PUP list on Monday

We knew it was coming, it was just a matter of time.  The Arizona Cardinals placed three players on their PUP list on Monday ahead of training camp opening on Friday.

Tight end Jermaine Gresham, linebacker Markus Golden, and rookie cornerback Chris Campbell were all placed on the PUP list.  Gresham is coming off a torn Achillies suffered towards the end of the season and Golden a torn ACL suffered in early October.

Gresham and Golden were expected.  Campbell apparently though has an ankle injury that will keep him out for the first part of camp.

It is hoped that both Gresham and Golden will be ready to go come September when the regular season starts.  Both have reportedly been working very hard in rehab to be ready once September 9th rolls around for the season opener.

The moves to the PUP list happened to be just one transaction the Cardinals made on Monday.  They also found time to also make a move with another tight end.

According to arizonasports.com, the Cardinals decided to sign tight end Chris Bazile, formerly of the Washington Redskins.  To make room, the Cardinals surprisingly waived tight end Beau Sandland.

Early on after signing with the team in February there was some hope he would make some noise in camp and challenge the incumbent tight ends.  That is apparently not to be.

As we’ve said though, the Cardinals won’t rest on their laurels.  They are constantly going to be evolving this roster to get the best 53-players by the end of camp and the preseason.

Without Gresham, the tight spot is a wide open competition.  The tight end room is full of guys that are going to get a chance to show what they have while Gresham sits on the sidelines for now continuing his rehab.
