Beau Benzschawel, OG

Surprise surprise, it’s another offensive lineman from Wisconsin.

Rated the highest, according to Pro Football Focus, out of all other eligible linemen at 89.3 Benzschawel is an intriguing prospect. He’s known as a run blocking aficionado due to his grizzly bear-like power. When engaging defenders, it’s simply too easy for him to open up gaps for the ball carrier to burst through.

However, his anchoring ability will enable him to play to his strengths moving defenders to his will in pass-protection. So will his 6-6, 309-pound frame, and a game that boasts technique to go along with pure power. Like other Wisconsin linemen in this draft, his athleticism isn’t in question either.

But he does have multiple knocks. The first being his tight hips which makes him play tall and instantly takes away from his extreme power and allows defenders to initiate contact. His other notable knock is his balance that stems from that higher pad level. If he can work on these issues, he could become an everyday starter on the interior line or right tackle.

Final Verdict

Beau is more of a project than his other Wisconsin mates, but if he works on his flaws and gains some mobility in his feet, I don’t see why he can’t be a solid starter. If the Cardinals are willing to take a chance in the mid-rounds to draft him, it could pan out to be a great pick in the future.
