Grade: B. The 49ers added a lot of great pieces to the defense including Bosa, Ford, Alexander, and Verrett, but it’s hard to say they didn’t overpay for a lot of those contracts. Although their defense will likely be a much better unit next season, it comes at a hefty price. After the second, their draft was full of reaches including a punter in the fourth.
