The Arizona Cardinals front office may be contemplating a trade that would end Christian Kirk‘s stint with the organization

We’re now just days away from the 2020 draft, and the rumors surrounding the Arizona Cardinals are gaining steam. Most of the gossip has centered around which position the organization will address with their first-round selection. Over the past couple of days, however, some other news has broke about a possible trade involving the Cardinals.

An NFL source has told CowboysSI.com that the Dallas Cowboys are showing interest in Arizona wideout Christian Kirk. The deal that brought four-time Pro Bowler DeAndre Hopkins to the desert last month has left the Cards with a logjam at the wide receiver spot. Could general manager Steve Keim be contemplating another swap that would involve parting ways with the 23-year old Kirk?

At the current time, the Cardinals have nine receivers on their roster. The most that the club would likely take into the regular-season with them is seven. But there’s also another reason that Arizona may be looking to cut ties with the 5’11, 200 pound Kirk.

Despite the acquisition of Hopkins back in March, there’s talk that the team may still be eyeing a pass-catcher with the eighth-overall pick. The popular name that’s being linked with the Cards is the University of Oklahoma’s CeeDee Lamb. Second-year quarterback Kyler Murray, who also played his college ball with the Sooners, was teammates with the 6’2, 191 pound Lamb back in 2018.

There’s some debate about what amount of compensation the Cardinals could get for Kirk. One report indicated that a fifth-round choice could get it done. Arizona currently is without a selection in that round, thanks to the trade that brought them running back Kenyan Drake last October.

It’s certainly shaping up to be an interesting week. If the rumor is true, perhaps Kirk will be performing in a Cowboys uniform in 2020. And the Cards, if the scuttlebutt is correct, will have Lamb and a fifth-round prospect to show for Keim’s wheeling and dealing.
