The Ugly

The Cardinals defense was ugly early on.  They gave up a 76-yard touchdown catch and run to 49ers running back Raheem Mostert.  It was reminiscent of the touchdown catch and run last November by Jeff Wilson to win the game for the 49ers.

No doubt they redeemed themselves at the end though.  Great stops by Byron Murphy Jr. and Patrick Peterson.

Isaiah Simmons looked every bit the rookie on Sunday.  He played just 18 snaps.  All of this is just fine though and he will be fine.

Let’s also not forget it was his first NFL game and it was also against the defending NFC Champion 49ers. With no preseason, give Simmons about a month and a half or so to get it down.

The next time the Cardinals play the 49ers is week 16 at home in December.  It will be a different Simmons and don’t expect a slow start by the defense either.
