The Arizona Cardinals play their home opener on Sunday against the Washington Football Team.

Coming off a huge upset against the defending NFC Champions in the San Francisco 49ers, the Arizona Cardinals are heading into the game with a lot of momentum in their corner.

However, Washington is traveling to Glendale with momentum of their own following an epic come from behind win against the Philadelphia Eagles.

And it makes for an interesting matchup for the Cardinals.

Washington’s stingy corners made last week’s season opener a game. Yet the Cardinals receiver DeAndre Hopkins debut went better than anyone in the desert could have advertised.

While quarterback Kyler Murray made the Niners defense look foolish as he galloped for 91 yards on 13 carries he faces a tough task against Washington’s deep defensive line that played a difference-making role against the Eagles.

The Cardinals pass rush showed up against San Francisco and at times overwhelmed the 49ers offensive line to make quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo uncomfortable, keeping him out of rhythm for most of the game. Can they repeat their performance against Washington?

This article details the top three matchups to watch for as the Cardinals face Washington in Glendale, hoping to improve to 2-0.
