Cardinals take average offensive lineman over future HOF running back

Draft re-do’s happen all the time. You’d be hard pressed to find anyone who’d keep this selection the same. Now it’s not like the left tackle position was completely bad along with the rest of the offensive line. They only gave up 21 sacks the year before, which most of went to Matt Leinart. Maybe then-general manager Rod Graves thought that this was the key to developing a better offense.

Adrian Peterson, a University of Oklahoma standout, wound up going to the Minnesota Vikings just two picks later and for a long time would just absolutely own the Cardinals. In 8 career games against the red birds, Peterson went 6-2 and combined for almost 1,000 yards and 8 total touchdowns. He’s also still around in the league if you didn’t know, and recently said he wants to beat Emmitt Smith’s career rushing record.

His time with the Cardinals was few years too late, as he had a few years of decline, similar to how Randy Moss’ yards dipped when he was with the Oakland Raiders. However that Peterson has shown that he is a future HOFer with his persistent performance in the unlikeliest of places such as Detroit and Washington.  Frank Gore is 2,000 yards ahead of him, but being on the New York Jets may hinder his yards. We’ll see who breaks the record first in the years to come.

Peterson will make another appearance later on this article.
