The Arizona Cardinals stunned the NFL in March of 2020 when they fleeced the Houston Texans for DeAndre Hopkins. In their wildest dreams, the “Red Sea” would’ve never believed that general manager Steve Keim could make that happen. Now, a year later, could the Cards front office add another pass-catcher who would give the team one of the top wide receiver combinations in professional football?

An outstanding wideout who’s scheduled to hit free agency on March 17th could do just that for the Cardinals. Allen Robinson, an eighth-year veteran, will be looking for a new contract in 2021. Finding room under the salary cap to sign the Detroit native would be difficult for Keim, but imagine what it would do for the “Air Raid” offense if he could.

Last season, Robinson hauled in 102 passes for 1,250 yards and six touchdowns in 16 starts for the Chicago Bears. An excellent performance for a player who’s looking to cash in this offseason. Rest assured, there will be no shortage of suitors for the 27-year old Robinson when the free agent signing period gets underway in a couple of weeks.

Robinson, who played his college ball at Penn State, was a second-round draft pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars back in 2014. The 6’2, 220 pounder’s best campaign was back in 2015, when he totaled 80 receptions, 1,400 receiving yards and 14 scores in 16 starts for Jacksonville. Robinson averaged an eye-popping 17.5 yards per catch that year, and received a Pro Bowl invitation for his efforts.

In March of 2018, Robinson left the Jaguars to sign a free-agent deal with Chicago. The agreement was worth $42 million over three years, and included a $6 million signing bonus. A fantastic payday, but rest assured that Robinson will be looking for even more money going forward.

Pairing Robinson and Hopkins would have to bring a smile to the face of Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray. There’s no doubt that head coach and play-caller Kliff Kingsbury would be thrilled as well. Whether Keim can pull off another “Houdini act” at the wide receiver position by acquiring Robinson remains to be seen.
