Signing J.J. Watt indicates the Arizona Cardinals will be aggressive in free agency

And while Watt is clearly on the back nine of his career, he’s still quite a factor. Sure, his sack total dropped and he can be injury-prone. But he still consistently beat blockers off the ball, recorded 14 tackles for loss, and 17 quarterback hits in 2020. Watt can still play. And his signing could kick off a stellar free agency class in Glendale.

But there are a few star players the Arizona Cardinals should be wary about signing. Even if the following players consistently put up good numbers and were focal parts of their teams in the past. The Cardinals are better off allowing these soon-to-be-revealed players to either re-sign with their former team or go sign with another franchise.

While the following three players could help the Cardinals, not everything is as good as it looks with any of them. From potential locker room distractions to poor scheme fits, each of the following players possesses red flags. Let’s look closer at each individually.
