Gerald Everett

Signing Gerald Everett means the Cardinals can weaken a division rival in the Los Angeles Rams. And while Everett hasn’t produced eye-popping statistics, he can easily break out into a true TE1 with someone like DeAndre Hopkins drawing away coverage.

Everett would become an even greater force if the Cardinals were to re-sign Dan Arnold. Arnold showed enough to become a legitimate TE2, but the Cardinals are in dire need of a TE1. Everett can become that guy.

And if Everett isn’t available, there are still a few decent options the Cardinals can pursue. Jonnu Smith is one option, but the Titans have implied they’d like to re-sign him. Mo-Alie Cox is the wild card. Sure, his numbers were no better than Arnold’s, but he made quite a leap on what was a tight end committee in Indianapolis. Plus, Cox would be the most cost-effective.

Nonetheless, Everett should be the top target here at tight end. The Cardinals know him well from their time facing the Los Angeles Rams twice a year. And one reason for his lack of top-tier production stems from playing as Tyler Higbee‘s understudy. If Everett steps in as the top guy, there is no limit to his production.
