Position of need #3: Cornerback

Robert Alford and Byron Murphy are the team’s top two corners after the first wave of free agency. Alford hasn’t played in two seasons, and Murphy figures to be at his best in the slot. That said, the Cardinals are in dire need of the position.

Look for the Cardinals to spend an early draft pick on the cornerback position. From looking at NFL Draft Prospect Rankings from The Draft Network, that you should expect them to spend a pick in the second round. This is because there are twice as many corners in the Top 75 than there are running backs.  And five times as many as there are tight ends.

However, it all goes back to the position Steve Keim and Kliff Kingsbury believe they should prioritize the highest. If they feel they need a corner more than they do a running back or a tight end, look for them to take one in the first round. But as mentioned, this is a deep cornerback class.

Either way, expect them to draft a legit CB1 at least in the second round. There are a few solid options left in free agency, but none figure to be anything more than a CB2 or Nickelback.
