Trading back for the Latest Arizona Cardinals mock draft

After getting A.J. Green in free agency, the Y and Z receiver positions are most likely taken care of for Arizona. Given how Kliff Kingsbury likes to go without tight ends with 10 or even “00” personnel (also known as 5 wide), having someone who can chew up YAC would be ideal. That makes Kadarius Toney our final candidate in my Latest Arizona Cardinals mock draft.

In my time of being a fan for the team, I can’t remember if I’ve ever seen/recalled one of our wide receivers being known specifically for his YAC ability. The closest I would have to say is Anquan Boldin, whose physical style of play is one of the reasons I became a fan of the team in the first place.

Now Toney did miss time during his junior year due to an injury, and that’s why his college numbers aren’t the most impressive. However, his ability to fly combined with Kingsbury’s air raid offense can create another John Brown from the slot position. His speed would be great for motions and jet sweeps, adding to the versatility of the offense. Toney also starred as a punt returner in his time in Gainesville- a dynamic spark that the Cardinals have been lacking since 2011.
