Kelvin Beachum is second of the most tradeable Arizona Cardinals.

Kelvin Beachum was put into the right tackle spot after Marcus Gilbert’s retirement after getting injured in 2019 and then opting out due to Covid. Beachum’s experience and overall play is why he is one of the most  tradeable Arizona Cardinals. What made the move confusing was that the TE had drafted Josh Jones in the third round in the 2020 NFL draft.

Many considered him to go much higher, and the talent Arizona got in the third hasn’t been used very much (roughly 50 snaps last season). This is where trading Beachum could benefit Arizona.

Arizona doesn’t need to coddle Jones. Jones needs to get out and play, while Beachum can be shipped to someone who desperately needs it more- Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.

Final thoughts on the Kelvin Beachum trade

I think this trade is a win-win. The Bengals get more protection for going Burrow with a battle-tested veteran, and the Cardinals get to start their future right tackle and acquire TE Thaddeus Moss. The TE position for Arizona has been abysmal for so long it’s arguably the worst-managed position of any team in the league.

Plus giving up two later picks for a 3rd rounder never hurts the Arizona Cardinals, as the later round picks haven’t been really been used since the likes of LaRod Stephens-Howling.
