Todd Gurley – RB

2020 Team: Atlanta Falcons

Currently, Chase Edmonds and James Conner are sitting at the top of Arizona’s running back depth chart. However, this isn’t exactly a duo that will cause opposing defenses to lose sleep at night.

While both Edmonds and Conner have experienced success in the past, each of them is at their best when they’re utilized in more of a rotational role. The Cardinals could still use a running back who can handle the majority of the team’s carries out the backfield for 2021.

Todd Gurley will turn 27 in August, and even though he’s still relatively young in football years, many have already moved on from him being able to make any sort of difference for an offense anymore.

Despite his production trending backward in the last two seasons, Gurley has still scored 23 touchdowns and averaged four yards per touch since 2019.

He spent the first five years of his NFL career in the NFC West, so the veteran running back is familiar with the divisional opponents Arizona will have to take on in 2021. At this point in the offseason, it’s also hard to imagine Gurley costing too much to sign.

If the Cardinals added the former Offensive Player of the Year to their roster, he could step in and assume the role in the team’s backfield that was held by Kenyan Drake last season (around 50 percent of the offense’s snaps).
