Arizona’s pass defense vs. Jacksonville’s offense

The Cardinals’ pass defense has been so-so throughout the first two weeks of the season. However, they match well against Lawrence. This favorable matchup is more of an extension of our first slide, except it talks about the pass defense as a whole.

Throughout the first two weeks of the season, the Cardinals rank eighth in the league in completion percentage allowed. And now they’re facing a quarterback with one of the league’s worst completion percentages and the worst among starting quarterbacks heading into Week 3.

The Cardinals are also eighth in passing yards allowed with just 404, and they’re 10th in the league in yards gained per pass attempt, and 11th in yards gained per pass completion. They’re also second in the league in passes defended.

While the Cardinals have struggled in some facets of the pass defense, they have also faced two experienced system quarterbacks that excel in their system in Ryan Tannehill and Kirk Cousins. Both are accurate passers that can get hot when their running game is in sync, as Cousins showed in Week 2.

Lawrence is not yet at this level. So despite inconsistencies in the Cardinals pass defense, they match favorably against Lawrence in Week 3. Especially since they have collectively allowed one of the lower completion percentages in football.
