Murray vs. Rams defense

Unless you followed both the Rams and Cardinals in 2021, you would never know just how much of an advantage Murray has. But as of Week 4, the Rams are 25th in passing defense, per Pro-Football-Reference, and have allowed the fourth-highest total of first downs through the air.

Murray, known more for his running ability over his first two seasons, is looking more like a traditional pocket passer that can run when he needs to. Murray has scored three rushing touchdowns, but most of his production has come through the air. And this should be a major cause for concern for a spotty Rams pass defense.

Sure, the offensive line must hold up against a relentless pass rush. But remember, the Cardinals have a pocket quarterback that can run these days. Murray can use his legs to his advantage and spray the ball around the field as he has done throughout the first three weeks of the season. Despite the talent on the Rams’ unit, when you look closely at the numbers, a good quarterback like Murray can carve them up.
