Baker picks off Baker

We are talking about Budda Baker recording his second interception in the second half against an increasingly erratic Baker Mayfield. Mayfield, at best, has been inconsistent in 2021, and since the season began, his play has nearly and has cost the Browns.

The Week 1 interception that he should have thrown away, the poor performance against Minnesota, and the inability to protect two second-half leads – you can also put some blame on the defense here – shows that when under pressure, Mayfield becomes mistake-prone.

Enter Budda Baker, who stepped up last week with a 17-yard interception of rookie quarterback Trey Lance. With Byron Murphy and Marco Wilson out, someone had to step up, and it was the 2020 All-Pro Safety.

And while it’s unclear whether Murphy and Wilson will be good to go for the week, expect Baker to once again make a game-breaking play in the defensive backfield. Not that Baker will threaten to take it to the house with Odell Beckham Jr. pulling off his best D.K. Metcalf impression, but expect this one to come in the second half that may tilt the game to the Cardinals’ advantage.
