5. Larry’s ability to get wheels turning

It didn’t happen often, as Larry Fitzgerald isn’t the fastest receiver in the league. Nor has he always had the greatest smorgasbord of quarterbacks to suit up with. However, when Fitzgerald could get a block, he was often gone (No, we’re not talking about that long touchdown just yet). Fitz has just four touchdowns over 70 yards in the regular season. Perhaps one of the best moments in his career was the longest catch of his career.

The 2014 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles became an instant classic. It was in this game that Fitzgerald got a block from Tedd Ginn Jr. and turned on the burners.

After a few down years, some had started to doubt Fitz and his skills as if he had enough in the tank to still be a dominant player. This 80-yard touchdown was the start of a late renaissance for No. 11, who would go on to have a ton of success with Bruce Arians. This would be an excellent foreshadowing moment as for the next three seasons, Fitzgerald would put three back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons late in his career.

It was all due to Arians’ decision to move Fitz into the slot position instead of being on the outside like he had always played. Arians made this switch without asking the future first-ballot Hall of Famer. Turns out it was one of the best things that could’ve ever happened for Fitzgerald.
